About Praxis Theological Seminary

We offer flexible, affordable theological and missional training online with one in-person intensive every trimester (held in Reno, NV).

This means you get a robust combination of theology and missional training without uprooting from your local context.

Philosophy

  • A seminary for pastors. The local church is God's Plan A to reach the world, so we focus entirely on training current and aspiring pastors.
  • Doctrine and practice. Some seminaries excel at scholarship, and others at practical ministry. Praxis does both: rigorous theology, reading all of Scripture as the revelation of Christ, and applying it in your own ministry setting.
  • Built for longevity. Each trimester combines doctrine, application, spiritual formation, and inspiration, because churches rarely fall apart from bad doctrine. They fall apart from unhealthy leaders.

Doctrine

We stand with historic Christianity: the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds, the Chicago Statement on Inerrancy, the Lausanne Covenant, and the Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement. Our distinctives:
  • Historically Reformed: We affirm the five Solas and God's sovereignty in every aspect of salvation.
  • Complementarian: Men and women are equal in value, with complementary roles in the home and the church.
  • Missional: Christ came to seek and save the lost, and he sends his church to do the same.
  • Spirit-dependent: The Holy Spirit is essential for effective ministry.
  • Christ-centered: Christ is the focus and interpretive key of all Scripture.

Christ-centered orthodoxy

We stand on the pillars of Christian orthodoxy as presented in the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasius Creed, as well as the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, Lausanne Covenant, and the Gospel Coalition Statement of Faith.
